Mah Humps

* Wit summer on da brink of end. Needed a vacation so bad to relax & get pumped before classes...most of all to avoid welcome week & all da unnecessary people. So skipped town once again on a heartbeat notice...this time ah was off to da Green State of Vermont.
* Traveling companion: Edd. We get each other on a level that ah don't share wit many ppl., but still five days together wit anyone is a long time.
* Caught da remnants of Hurricane Katrina...so first day was all rain. Decided to make da day a city trip. Visited Montplier (capital & literally two streets big) & Burlington (reminded me a hilly version of Ann Arbor...being also a granola, liberal, college town).
* Hiked up Camel's Hump...7 mile hike some 4000 ft. elevation gain...sadly so foggy and windy at da summit. No views period.
* Visited an alpine luge @ Stowe...2400 ft. long concrete luge built off of a ski slope. Ski lift up...rode a plastic go cart down da the crazy and sometimes scary turns.
* Took da Ben & Jerry Ice Cream Factory tour...saw da process & sampled some ice cream of course.
* Kyacked down Lamoille River under da foothills of Mt. Mansfield. Da normally calm river has been flooded post Hurricane Katrina. Still very relaxin' and chill ride...until da very end when da river was ragin'. Ah missed da pickup point...had to paddle against current up river. Edd flipped over.
* Drove through some of da most scenic roads ever seen. Da hills...lush wit green canopy...wit gray granite cliffs juttin' above. Da crazy turns...one after another...mixed wit just da right song...ah felt like ah was in a 45 minute long car commercial.
* Hiked up Mount Mansfiels...highest point in Vermont. Hellbrook trail was rough! Possibly da most difficult climb ah've ever done. Literally one scramble after another, slick wit streams runnin' down...da entire hike was virtually vertical...makin' da 2 miler an 3 hour epic. Da summit was beautiful...so worthwhile. Can see all da rollin' hills around...and far off to Lake Champlain. Sun rays beamed down...makin' da geography seem like a Tolkien fairytale.
* Feelin' refreshed...ready to face another shcool year.
